Terms and Conditions.

By paying with the Payatrader link provided at time of booking or bank transfer, the client agrees to the following terms and conditions:

  • All training uses reward based methods, including clicker, treats, toy play, life rewards, praise and affection. I do not use choke chains, prong collars, shock collars or any other aversive tools. All behaviours will be modified using an effective mix of initial management, positive reinforcement training, modifications to daily routine, activity enrichment, relationship enrichment, healthy boundaries and environmental changes.

  • The aim of any training or behaviour consultation in person or via any of the above mediums is to provide analysis, diagnosis, plans, coaching, tips, ideas and support, so the owner can carry this work out proactively going forward. I cannot train your dog fully myself in the time we have together but I can support you and take great pride in doing so.

  • Dog training is a progressive process that requires consistent work. The nature of any fit and proper dog training service should be one of coaching the humans to train the dog. The results therefore, will depend on how much is practiced and exercised on a daily basis, by the owners, in between sessions. Training sessions will include instructions on what to do between that training session and the next one. Where necessary this will be in written format usually via information handouts and session summaries on Email or Whatsapp. The client agrees to carry out, and adhere to the advice and instructions given and notify me if something isn't working so it can be tweaked and improved. The client accepts that progress cannot be made without this process of progressive work and improvement and that Paul Lasky Dog Training and Behaviour is in no way liable for lack of progress if this has not been done.

  • I do try to keep track of all of my client’s progress however, any improvement in the situation depends on the client being proactive and keeping me updated of the successes and the challenges. I will always respond to phone calls, emails, texts and instant messages as quickly as I can and would actively encourage you to seek guidance, if you are unsure about anything. You can even send me videos of your dogs doing certain behaviours or your training sessions.

  • If you are having a puppy development plan, I will give you honest advice if I think your puppy has a genetic predisposition to behaviour problems in the future and you will be offered at least one more session to set you up with the protocols to minimise this potential problem. If this problem is genetic, the puppy plan can help identify it and minimise it, it is not a failure of the puppy plan itself.

  • All communications will be responded to within 72 working hours.

  • Regarding behaviour consultations, as soon as payment is made our journey together will begin. This includes phone calls, information handouts, diagnosis questionnaires and first aid advice. As such, if a refund and cancellation is requested before the first appointment, there is a charge of £50 covering afore-mentioned already shared intellectual property and time.

  • The standard running time of one session is 1 hour or 2 hours but can vary on the day by approximately 15 minutes, depending on the requirements of the session. The usual reason that a session may finish slightly early is if we are working with a young dog and they are too tired to continue or a nervous dog that has simply reached its limit. Conversely, if the dog is training well or the client simply has more questions for me and my schedule permits we, may run over. These are natural variations in this line of work and no further adjustments to cost will be taken into account, either in favour of myself or the client.

  • From time to time I may provide you with some nutritional guidance such as possible food brands that might be an upgrade on what you are currently feeding your dog. This could be for a variety of reasons, such as loose bowel movements, excessive volume of stools, wind or hyperactivity. This advice is based on years of anecdotal experience and basic analysis of the ingredients of each brand. I am not however a qualified nutritionist and as such am not legally insured to give nutritional advice. Advice given, therefore on the subject of nutrition, should be taken as initial guidance only and the client should make the final decision themselves based on reading reviews, knowing your own dog's preferences, clinical history and discussing with your vet if you have any concerns about a particular brand, ingredient or potential interaction.

  • All outdoor work and dog to dog work especially in public places carries additional risks, particularly when working with reactive or nervous dogs and there are members of the public's dogs present, that are not under our control and may be off lead. The very nature of such behaviour plans is that the training takes place in real-world situations so the client can take the most value and confidence from the sessions. Paul Lasky Dog Training and Behaviour is proud to say all dogs in our care are heavily controlled and that in the entire time of trading and working with dogs with a history of aggression, we have not experienced one dogfight. However, clients undertaking real world scenario training, outdoor work, reactive dog work, nervous dog work and dog on dog introductions should be aware risks do exist regarding dogs and people not under our control. Whilst these situations would be handled safely and professionally, the client enters into these sessions with full knowledge of the above risks and Paul Lasky Dog Training and Behaviour is not liable for any injuries or costs on dogs or humans that may arise.

  • Regarding training classes, once booked, the booking cannot be changed if less than 3 weeks before the start of the class. Any individual classes within the course that are missed, are not refundable, but you will be fully caught up with your learning on the next lesson. Please bring your dogs to training classes on a standard collar, harness and flat lead. Please do not bring your dog on long lines or flexi leads.

  • Whilst I do leave the correct amount of time to get from one appointment to the next, from time to time traffic issues outside of my control will cause me to be late. If this is the case, I will give you notice as soon as I know, with a revised estimated time of arrival. Usually this is no longer than 15 minutes, although in extreme circumstances this could be longer. The client will still receive a full session.

  • Payment to be made within 48 hours of booking to reserve the time in my diary.

  • Nearly everyone who cancels will think their cancellation is an exception to normal reasons. It isn't however reasonable without suitable notice to expect a small business to resell a slot and just a few missed appointments per month, multiplied up, can lead to a significant yearly loss of earnings. I appreciate your understanding.

  • Appointments cancelled one calendar day before will be subject to the full fee.

  • Appointments cancelled two calendar days before will be subject to a cancellation fee of 50%.

  • Appointments cancelled with more than two calendar days’ notice will be rescheduled to a mutually agreeable time, which may be a few weeks away due to a busy schedule.

  • If a dog acquires a medical issue in the 2 weeks before an appointment, please inform me of this as soon as the dog gets the issue, so we can discuss and make an early decision as to whether the appointment needs to be postponed. Waiting and seeing until the day before the appointment or the day of appointment will incur the same fees as above.

  • For the avoidance of doubt, a cancellation is defined as any appointment which cannot be made at the time, date and location stated when originally booked.

  • Whilst puppy training will give your puppy the best start, in some cases, due to genetics or medical causes a puppy may still develop a behavioural issue. If this occurs, in some cases, I may refer to a trusted clinical behaviourist colleague, if I think this would be a better match for the given situation.

  • The client accepts to work with Paul Lasky Dog Training (Paul Lasky) at their own risk in relation to Coronavirus and Paul Lasky Dog Training accepts no liability or responsibility for any illnesses arising subsequently.
