My thoughts on fatal dog attacks on humans…

There have been 2 news stories in the last couple of weeks where a group of dogs have killed a person.

Being someone who promotes the amazingness of dogs every day, I needed to somehow process it.

I have rewritten this post several times…

A few times, I tried to approach it from dog handling skill, body language or trigger stacking points of view, but it always came out too judgmental on the person.

I tried to approach it from the size or breed of dog, predatory sequence angle, but it always came out too judgmental on large dogs, certain breeds or even dogs in general.

I tried to approach it from a number of dogs’ point of view, but it always came out too judgmental on all the people who successfully own lots of dogs.

No matter what I wrote I couldn't get anything meaningful out, that would help me or someone reading it.

The fact is we will never know the exact events that led up to these disasters, but they are off the chart’s extreme freak occurrences.

I therefore don't particularly have a comment on how these incidences may have happened or could have been avoided.

The only thing that helps me process it, is that dogs very rarely kill humans when prey drive goes wrong. Humans routinely kill other humans for all sorts of ghastly disingenuous reasons in the millions.
